Stephen Malbon went to his first Grateful Dead show at RFK Stadium as a teenager. Decades later, that connection is the backbone of a six-part collaboration between Malbon and the Grateful Dead estate, launched to mark the band’s 60th anniversary. Drop 1 arrived in December 2025 with artist Daniel Herwitt’s layered, surreal illustrations — tie-dye Stealies, corduroy pants, denim moto jackets. It sold through fast. Drop 2 is the summer chapter, and it takes the whole thing in a looser, lighter direction.
Two print families anchor this release: “Blanket” and “Alphabet.” The Blanket prints reimagine Grateful Dead iconography through golf landscapes and natural textures — think scenic allover patterns on polos, shorts, jackets, and a standout Sunday bag. The Alphabet prints pull from the Dead’s typographic heritage, running bold graphic lettering across tees, shorts, and the Peninsula Jacket. Together they hit a vibe that’s equal parts Shakedown Street and Saturday morning tee time. Silhouettes are relaxed, fabrics are summer-weight, and the color palette skews warm and earthy.
At $38 for tee packs and socks up to $328 for the Blanket Sunday Bag, the range covers impulse buys and statement pieces. Nineteen products across outerwear, polos, tees, shorts, hats, and accessories — all available now at malbon.com. Drops 3 through 6 are still to come, each featuring a different artist. Here’s the full Drop 2 lineup.
