Sunday Golf made the par 3 bag a category. Before the Loma, a short-course round meant hauling your full bag or carrying a few clubs in your hand. Now there is a two-pound sling with a slot for six clubs and a pocket for one cold can, and every golf retailer sells something like it. The San Diego brand that started it has sold more than 300,000 bags since 2020, and it has grown into full-size stand bags, cart bags, a vegan leather line and collaborations with Mossy Oak and Bob Marley.
For Austin, the Loma is the right bag for how a lot of us actually play: a twilight nine at Hancock, a wedge-and-putter hour at the range, a par 3 on a weeknight with five clubs. Walk nine holes in August with a full staff bag and you’ll get it. The bigger bags are good, fairly priced and light, but the Loma is the reason to know this brand.
Ronan Galvin was not a golfer growing up. Born in Ireland and raised in North County San Diego, he spent about a decade on the other side of the industry, working in golf bag product development and brokering between bag brands and factories overseas. Back in San Diego, friends took him to the Loma Club, a nine-hole par 3 at Liberty Station, and the game finally made sense to him. What he noticed was everyone else’s bag: full sets, carried around a course that only asks for a handful of clubs.
He built a prototype for that course and took it out. People asked where they could buy one. He started Sunday Golf with his business partner Casey Mathews, with Galen Brunelle also part of the founding team, and named the first bag after the course. The plan was to launch in January 2020. The pandemic stalled the shipments, and by the time the first inventory arrived that August, golf was one of the few things people could still do with friends. The first bags shipped from a storage unit around the corner from the office, and they couldn’t keep them in stock.
The rest grew from there: more than 100,000 bags in the first three years, a crowdfunded seed round from more than 550 small investors in 2023, and, by mid-2026, more than 300,000 bags sold. Sunday Golf says it’s now in most major golf retailers and more than 1,000 pro shops. The mission written on its office wall is to “Get 500,000 golfers having more fun by 2027,” measured in bags.
On the Course · Sunday Golf’s own photosSunday Golf shoots its bags the way most people actually play: a fourball in a cart, push carts on the fairway, a fist bump across the path, a carry bag over one shoulder on a desert course.

Founder’s voiceQuotes below are verbatim from three published interviews with Galvin, from 2022, 2023 and June 2026.
Galvin tells the origin story the same way every time: the par 3 came first, and the bag came out of it. “I got dragged to a par-3 course in 2019 —The Loma Club—and it was way more my jam,” he said this summer. “It was a lot different than the stereotypical ideas you have about golf where it’s kind of long, uptight, and exclusive.”
The brand’s position against the big golf companies is just as simple. “We say we like to be more relatable than aspirational,” he said in 2022. Sunday Golf doesn’t sponsor tour players or promise a lower score. Galvin jokingly calls what it sells “diet golf” or “golf light”: weekend rounds, range sessions, company scrambles.
On the timing, he is honest about the luck. “We launched the company right when the pandemic hit and we couldn’t keep our products in stock. At first it was a bit scary but the lockdown created a huge resurgence in golf. We’ve been riding the wave ever since,” he said in 2023. And on the product: “We’re trying to make a good bag, at a good price, that you can enjoy playing with, and obviously people have resonated with that.”
Size guideSunday Golf publishes these specs on its own comparison page. Every bag has full-length dividers and is 600D nylon unless noted: the S-Class bags are polyurethane (vegan) leather and the Ranger is recycled nylon ripstop. If you play oversized grips, Sunday Golf points you to the Ryder 14 or the Big Rig.

Ronan Galvin and Casey Mathews founded Sunday Golf in San Diego in August 2020, with Galen Brunelle also part of the founding team. Galvin had spent about a decade in golf bag product development before he took up the game at the Loma Club, a par 3 course in San Diego.
The Loma is Sunday Golf's original par 3 bag: 32 inches tall, 1.95 pounds, room for six clubs, a single strap and an insulated pocket for one can. It was designed for the Loma Club par 3 in San Diego and is named after it.
Pick by how many clubs you carry. The Loma holds 6, the Loma XL 8, the El Camino up to 12, and the Ryder, Ranger and Big Rig hold 14. The Big Rig is the cart bag; the rest are carry or stand bags.

On October 15, 2026, most of the store was on sale. Bags ran from $130 for the Loma to $400 for the Ranger, and accessories from $15 for par 3 tees.
